YES!!! CBTU IS TURNING 50.

“CBTU – Doing Good in the Neighborhoods”

I’d like to thank our CBTU team for the support and commitment they give our community. The “Vaccination Station” was highly successful and provided many citizens an opportunity to receive their vaccinations, food, and PPE. Our partnership with Pastor Homer Jamison of Jamison Temple Baptist Church, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and their medical team, Dion Williams, Director of Faith Based and Urban Affairs for Governor Whitmer, Gleaners, HAP and the Detroit Police Department’s 5th Precinct and Commander Eric Ewing was a strong example of how community collaborations can make a difference in the lives of others. A special thank you to Tony Richards, UAW Local 600 1st Vice President and CBTU Executive Board member and Pam Powell, CBTU Executive Board member, We will return on May 21, 2021 for the second vaccinations and round of new vaccinations. –

I will be performing in this play. It is being produced by Plowshares Theater, Michigan’s only professional Black theater whose mission is to share the stories of the Black experience. I hope you will be able to view the play and make a donation. Cheaper than Netflix.

Please feel free to share. Set up your Watch Party with Wine today!

Thank you!

peace,
Mj

Friday, April 30, 2021, at 7:30 PM This Friday evening, Plowshares Theatre Company will deliver the one-of-a-kind experience you’ve come to expect from us. ONE NIGHT ONLY. NO RECORDINGS. NO REPEATS. BROADCAST LIVE ON FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE & PLOWSHARES WEBSITE w This time last year, Plowshares was about to produce the World Premiere of ROOST by Lee Edward Colston II, live, onstage from the Marygrove Theatre. Quarantine had other plans. We had to postpone the production. But, you know very well, as a people, We Persist. We Adapt. We Overcome! One year later, we still cannot invite you to the theater, so we will bring the theater to you. This Friday, we will be on the Marygrove Theater Stage, presenting a staged reading of the play, and streaming it LIVE online. Be a part of this World Premiere Experience! RSVP for our free, live-streamed event and celebrate the resilience of our local creatives including Jon Kent, Nicole Marie Hunt, Scott Norman, Edward Gaines, Michael Joseph, and Deborah Chenault-Green. Cocktail attire or pajamas – it’s up to you. Just join us on April 30! NOTE: Contains mature language and subject matter.
